Take for example the guy asking the stupid questions right now.

Why does he feel a need to confirm his faith by denouncing others? Is he that insecure in his beliefs, that he has to make a front, an act, of being some kind of super christian?

Why can’t people just accept that everyone has their own beliefs (and this goes for the atheists too, since they follow their beliefs with religious ferocity as well).

I’m an Asatruar. Norse Heathen, pagan, prechristian nordic reconstructionalist, however you wish to express it. I believe in my Gods, When i see the Lightning, hear the Thunder, and feel the pelting rain and the winds, or see the world come into bloom fruition during the spring and summer, the withering death of fall and winter, the rising and setting of the sun, etc… I know that I am following the right religion for ME. And I know its not for everybody. What I may see as a religious experience, others end up looking at me seeing some idiot in a rainstorm screaming with his arms held out. That’s fine :-) Some people need a quite embellished building with a man directing the ritual to find spirituality, that’s fine for them. Not for me.

But then you have guys like this Christianity for all guy, who … I dunno. Why some people so insecure in their own faith?

Why do some people feel the need to impose their beliefs on others?

In the up-coming film, Thor, who, in your opinion, should play the lead, Thor norse God of Thunder?In the up-coming film, Thor, who, in your opinion, should play the lead, Thor norse God of Thunder?

And it had better not be Brad Pitt!! That dude is way to thin framed for Thor. Thor was a big guy.

Who should play the marvel character Thor?

How much do you know about the Norse Gods/religion

I learnt a lot from Runemarks (amazing book) but anything you can tell me.

Aesir:

Odin (allfather)

Mother Frigg (odins wife)

Thor (thunder god, has a hammer called Mjolnir)

(thats all I can think of)

Vanir:

Skadi (huntress)

Njord (man of the sea)

Frey and Freya (Njord and Skadis children)

Hemidall (has god teeth (meesenger?)

Idun (healer)

Others:

Loki (trickster)

Hel (ruler of hel, Loki’s daughter, 1 dead side and the other living)

Jormungand (eats Yggdrasil (world tree), son of Loki)

Surt (the destroyer, ruler of Chaos)

Norse Gods/religion?

Norse ballad written by Henry Longfellow on the god Thor:

I AM the God Thor,

I am the War God,

I am the Thunderer!

Here in my Northland,

My fastness and fortress,

Reign I forever!

Here amid icebergs,

Rule I the nations;

This is my hammer,

Miölner the mighty;

Giants and sorcerers,

Cannot withstand it!

These are the gauntlets,

Wherewith I wield it,

And hurl it afar off;

This is my girdle;

Whenever I brace it,

Strength is redoubled!

The light thou beholdest,

Stream through the heavens,

In flashes of crimson,

Is but my red beard,

Blown by the night-wind,

Affrighting the nations!

Jove is my brother;

Mine eyes are the lightning;

The wheels of my chariot

Roll in the thunder,

The blows of my hammer

Ring in the earthquake!

Force rules the world still,

Has ruled it,

shall rule it;

Meekness is weakness,

Strength is triumphant,

Over the whole earth,

Still is it Thor’s-Day!

Thou art a God too,

O Galilean!

And thus singled-handed

Unto the combat,

Gauntlet or Gospel,

Here I defy thee!What does the speaker mean when he says, “Thou art a God too”? Who is he addressing, and what is this person’s relationship to the speaker?

Norse Ballad Help!!?

Thor, the Viking God of Thunder, and Odin, the King Of The Gods, are enjoying a flagon of mead in Valhalla, the Norse heaven. Suddenly, Thor turns to Odin. ‘You know, my Lord,’ he says, thoughtfully thumbing his mystical hammer. ‘Being a god is brilliant, but it’s been millennia since I had any sex.’ Odin nodded and pondered for a while. Raising his mighty head, he took pity on his subordinate. ‘Go to Earth, Thor,’ he replied. ‘Find thyself there what they call a “lady of the night”. Treat her to your manly pleasures.’ Bowing gracefully, Thor retired and followed Odin’s advice, before returning the next night. ‘My Lord,’ he said, grinning from ear to ear, ‘You were right – it was wonderful. We had passionate sex 37 times!’ ‘Thirty-seven times?’ exclaimed Odin. ‘That poor woman! Mere mortals cannot endure such treatment. You must go and apologize this instant!’ Humbled, Thor went back down to earth and found the prostitute. ‘I’m sorry about last night,’ he apologized. ‘But you see, I’m Thor.’ ‘You’re Thor?’ shouted the girl, ‘What about me? I can’t even pith.’

Is thith funny?

Thor, the Viking God of Thunder, and Odin, the King Of The Gods, are enjoying a flagon of mead in Valhalla, the Norse heaven.

Suddenly, Thor turns to Odin.

You know, my Lord, he says, thoughtfully thumbing his mystical hammer.

Being a god is brilliant, but it`s been millennia since I had any sex.

Odin nodded and pondered for a while. Raising his mighty head, he took pity on his subordinate.

Go to Earth, Thor, he replied. Find thyself there what they call a lady of the night. Treat her to your manly pleasures.

Bowing gracefully, Thor retired and followed Odin`s advice, before returning the next night.

My Lord, he said, grinning from ear to ear, You were right – it was wonderful. We had passionate sex 37 times!

37 times? exclaimed Odin That poor woman! Mere mortals cannot endure such treatment. You must go back and apologize this instant!

Humbled Thor went down to Earth and found her.

I`m sorry about last night, but you see I`m Thor.

You`re Thor? I can`t even pith!pith = piss!

Is this another word play?

Why do some people get offended by the terms A.D and B.C and yet don’t mention anything about the days of the week?

In this politically correct society I am surprised that we have not renamed our days of the week to 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.

I don’t believe in the Norse god of thunder Thor, and yet one of our days of the week is named after him.

Thursday — Thor’s day

Should we not change the name of the week so that people who don’t believe in Thor won’t be offended?
