Telecom Jobs overseas?

This must be a first for customers to have a win over a big telecommunications company.

Congratulations to Telstra Australia for removing $2.20 surcharge if u paid ur bill in cash, was it expected?

I am hoping that some one could help me in regards with this issue I have an BF who is a successful Accountant. He works for a great telecommunications company in one of its main offices in California

However due to family reasons, his father had recently suffered a stroke that has severely impaired his stamina and needs an oxygen tank to get around.

His mom was recently diagnosed with a malignant kidney tumor and there are numerous times as of late that she was rushed to ER in the months of October-November alone. Come january she will undergo surgery to have it removed and then rehabilitation

Being he is the son that lives in the nearby area to help his parents, He is obligated to pick his parents up every Thursday for church and weekly grocery as both are unstable to drive. For this, He has to leave work at least at 4:45 or 4:50 to beat the rush hour traffic from Claremont to Penasquitos

Though I respects his choice of privacy on such personal matter, what worries me is that he stubbornly refuses to inform his Supervisor of the reason why he leaves early. And from the numerous complaints I hear from him about his boss, I feel that he is in what you professionally would call a ” Hostile Work Environment” with a supervisor who is unaware of his current circumstances and may perceive his actions of late as a form of unprofessionalism and slack.
Unfortunately, his profession as a Sr. Accountant requires him to stay overtime on month end, and its unfortunate that on Thursdays he has moral obligations to fulfill.

I explained to him that he will not be discriminated at work due to those reasons and even pointed out that by law they cannot discrimnate him, but in exchange he must explain this to his manager as to avoid unnecessary misunderstanding.

On other occasions, he has refused to contact his manager when he is late ( due to a car accident or car trouble ) and insisted on just texting another workmate; even after I have strongly advised to follow corporate standards.

Often he brushes off my advice merely for the reason on his seniority over me and my lack of knowledge of office procedures. I also would like to attribute that the personal stress of his mother possibly having to fight cancer has been burdening him lately yet he has no other outlet to relieve such issues and may have been reflecting on his personality as of late.

I have simply advise him to speak to his manager and simply explain the situation without the need to be fully detailed on his personal issues. Unfortunately due to my age and professional stature, he regards any professional advice from me as “insignificant” and “inappropriate” . often citing that my knowledge of office related procedures are novice in comparison to his 20 years in the industry He strongly feels that his work does not need to know the reason why he leave early on Thursday even though I told him this is a standard for any corporate place of work. He assures himself by simply sending a quick ” My work is done, I’ll be leaving early today” is enough to satisfy his excuse.

He is not a bad person, and he is very much a hard worker though egotistic and prideful about his seniority. As many would call a Type A personality

My greatest fear in this competitive times, is that California being an at will state of employment, that he would be released from his job when a simple explanation to his boss could have deterred this.

In addition, the burden will also be on me to assist him financially when I myself has just gotten my new job and only make 2x less than what he makes. As much as I would like to help him if he gets laid off, I could not anymore since I need to balance my own bills and barely even make my monthly rent. The scenario is we get paid bi weekly but I still need to give him cash for lunch and gas He depletes his checking account to 0 due to the bills he has. He even uses my car because he has a truck that guzzles on gas and I gave him my car so he can save at least $50.00 a week. I often have to bus/train home or wait for him for 2 hours 3x a week so i can get home.

How do I fix this problem? I am almost tempted to contact his supervisor myself because the stress is now affecting our relationship and our home. It also affects my budget and any plans of savings for the both of us. he has sometimes been hurtful in calling me out because he really disregard me as a person on a professional status.

I know I am not his wife but this has gone on too bad for me. I dont want to think ill of him but his ego has just gone off the roof

Work Concern Affecting our relationship? Hostile Work Environment issue.?

I am in sales with a telecommunication company that specializes in internet and phone service. I want to try to get set-up with apartments and market our products to their residents. I have heard that some companies offer commissions to the apartment managers. So, I am wanting to know how to structure this type of commission. And I would really like to see an example of a plan targeting apartments, so that I can do a comparison. Or if you have any other way of doing this type of sale please explain it to me.

Marketing to Apartments?

I was working with a renowned telecommunication company in Bangladesh with a huge success despite lack of management support. I was working as Acting Head of Logistics for almost two years. After a amalgamation with a new company, the management has taken fresh initiatives to make some positional adjustment. One fine evening, after just completing the performance appraisals of my department, I was called by our HR Director. After meeting him I was just stunned by his request to resign immediately. In reply of my question why I have to resign, what is the allegation against me he frustrated me with answer I will discuss you later. After that I refused to resign since I didnt see any valid reason. As a result of my refusal HR Director threaten me to terminate. In a country like Bangladesh, if any one gets termination from any company, he does not get any for a long time. For that fear I signed on the resignation letter.

Please note that,

1.HR did not give any time.

2.HR did not show any allegation against me

3.At that time my supervisor (Chief Marketing Officer) was not in the country.

4.Chief Marketing Officer was not informed
Now I am living miserably without any job for a long time. I am confident that HR didnt follow any rules. They didnt terminate me but force me to resign.

Now I want get back my job. So I am seeking advice from Yahoo community. Please help me on this. I am a victim.

Regards

Mahmud

I am going to join the USAF as Safety Apprentice?

I live in Orlando Florida and work for a big telecommunications company. I am currently in a management position here in Orlando Florida and live close to work. I got a call today from a big boss and he basically offered me a promotion moving to Houston Texas. I’m not sure if I should accept. I am taking a trip out there with my husband to see how we like Houston Texas. The thing is that we like Orlando but I also don’t want to pass up an opportunity such as this promotion. The company I work for is actually Headquartered in Houston Texas so I would be working close to where the actual Headsquarters office is. What do you guys think? I am also curious to know how the LIFE is out in Houston and how the housing costs are compared to here in Orlando. Any thoughts, feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Should I move from Orlando Florida to Houston Texas for a Job Promotion ?
